Understanding Asperger's Syndrome PDF Print E-mail

A man peeling potatoesAsperger’s Syndrome is a social and communication disorder.

It hinders people in understanding others, communicating effectively, and thinking flexibly.

People have difficult lives, isolated in an intensely social world, often developing problems that fit a predictable pattern.

It arises from slightly unusual brain structure and function, and makes itself visible through behaviour.

Medical science reduces things to the constituent parts and focuses on the problems. Although this has been useful, treatments have arisen from this way of thought that tend to be for the constituent conditions.

This is reflected in how we work with Asperger’s, but has interfered with the focus of how we help people live successfully with this condition.
