It's not good enough

The people I meet are interesting, valuable, funny, honest and moral people who would like more than anything to get their lives going, but there is so little useful help, despite all the laws and guidance and policy initiatives. It is very inviting for people to slip into being on the edge of society, dependant on government handouts. For some that is the best solution, and for others, there must be other ways. I am not satisfied that this country, or any other, does even the bare minimum, let alone the best it can do to support this group – in fact I think that people with Asperger’s are so overlooked that it is a national disgrace and an abuse of the intention of the Community Care, Human Rights and Disabilities Discrimination legislation.

I am having a go to get some more attention for people with Asperger’s. I have started a petition – see below. Sign it and let’s see if we can get some action going! I am also going to do a press release shortly to see if we can get some more attention. If you want to be quoted let me know. Personally, I am getting this Connection work off the ground – we are at the very start of creating a community of people with Asperger’s and people who like people with Asperger’s. This is really exciting – there are many, many possibilities for people to get involved, to start leading some of the work, to support others, to develop and improve relationship and perhaps to lead to bigger experiences, all of which will lead to people becoming more of who they can be – more powerful in their lives.
